![]() ![]() Using a butter knife, swirl cinnamon mix into cake batter in a figure 8 pattern. Drop tablespoons of cinnamon swirl mixture on top of batter. In a small bowl, mix butter, brown sugar, flour, and cinnamon together until well combined. Prepare your favorite vanilla cake batter and pour into prepared pan. Spray sides of the pan with nonstick spray. Line the bottom of a 13X9 pan with parchment paper. Preheat oven to temp specified by your cake batter recipe. Cream cheese frosting (canned or homemade).Your favorite vanilla cake recipe, prepared (homemade or from a box).Best of all, your house will smell amazing as it bakes! The flavor of this cake is like a cinnamon roll but a little less sweet. Use whatever white or vanilla cake recipe you love, add the cinnamon swirl, bake, and frost with your favorite cream cheese frosting. The reason I love this cake is simple….it’s simple! No crazy ingredients, it can be thrown together in a matter of minutes, AND everyone loved it. I had to throw something together that looked presentable but tasted delicious. There is a time and a place for extravagant cakes ( click here to see one of my favorites!) but this definitely wasn’t the time to spend hours decorating. So when I needed to make a cake for a coworker’s going away party, I needed it to be fast. Lately, I’ve definitely been searching for more time. To thaw, place in the fridge or on the countertop overnight. This cake can stay frozen for up to 2 months in a freezer-safe container. You want the cinnamon-sugar mixture to have a distinct swirl in the cake, so only swirl enough to do so. Then, cut a thick piece of parchment paper and line the bottom and sides of the pan with it, leaving enough overhang so you can easily pick the cake up out of the pan ( Note: Run a knife along the edges of the cake not lined with parchment paper before lifting). For easy removal from the pan, spray the loaf pan with pan spray.To avoid this, once you add the dry ingredients, mix the batter gently and only enough to incorporate all the ingredients. Overmixing can make the cake tough and dense. Note: It’s important to wait for the cake to cool completely before glazing so the heat from the cake doesn’t melt and absorb the icing. Drizzle icing over the cake once it’s completely cooled. The consistency should be thick but pourable. If the icing is too thick, add more milk if it’s too thin, add more sugar. To make the icing: Whisk together powdered sugar, 1 tablespoon milk, vanilla, and cream cheese until combined and smooth.Bake for 40-50 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.Swirl gently using a sharp knife, but don’t overdo it to the point that the cinnamon mixture is completely mixed with the batter.Pour half of the remaining batter, then the remaining cinnamon sugar, then ending with batter. Sprinkle half of the cinnamon sugar mixture into pan. ![]()
